Tertiary centre

A hospital that provides tertiary care, which is healthcare from specialists with specific expertise in a given field, in a large hospital after referral from primary and secondary care. All major paediatric and adult heart surgery, and most new transcatheter procedures are undertaken at tertiary centres.
