At the National Institute for Cardiovascular Outcomes Research (NICOR), we are a unique partnership of clinicians, IT experts, analysts, academics and managers, which provides project, technical and analytical support for the National Cardiac Audit Programme (NCAP) and several health technology registries.

Hosted by Arden & GEM Commissioning Support Unit (CSU), NICOR collects, analyses and interprets vital cardiovascular data into relevant and meaningful information to promote sustainable improvements in patient well-being, safety and outcomes.

Our primary aim is to support clinical improvement programmes in hospitals to improve patient outcomes and quality of care. We help the NHS, the government and regulatory bodies improve quality of care by checking that the care received by heart disease patients meets good practice standards. NICOR is funded by NHS England and the GIG Cymru (NHS Wales).
