NICOR Data Access Request Service (DARS) up and running
We are pleased to announce the NICOR Data Access Request Service (DARs) is up and running again with NHS England and GIG Cymru/NHS Wales now the sole data controllers for their elements of the NICOR data.
A new process has been developed for data applications, which replaces the previous process managed by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) on behalf of the NHS England.
Prior to completing data access request forms applicants will first contact the NICOR DARS via nicor.datarequests@nhs.net. This is to enable the NICOR team to assess the data request and extent to which the data held in NICOR will meet the purposes of the request. Following the initial assessment either a Data Access Request Form (DARF) will be issued, or the data requestor will be advised that some amendment may be needed as the NICOR data will not address the data questions as currently formulated. Advice will be given on how best to complete the application forms.
Applicants should be reminded this process covers applications for NICOR data from hospitals in England and Wales. Any application for UK data that also requests data from Scotland or Northern Ireland will require additional steps, which will be discussed with you.
More information on the data access process is available on the NICOR website.
