Intravascular lithotripsy for calcified coronary arteries during percutaneous coronary intervention
Interventional procedures guidance [IPG673] Published date: 24 June 2020

NICE have published guidance, to which BCIS contributed expert advice, which allows for the use of intracoronary lithotripsy, but includes the stipulation: “Enter details about all patients having intravascular lithotripsy for calcified coronary arteries during percutaneous coronary intervention onto the National Institute for Cardiovascular Outcomes Research (NICOR) database, and review local clinical outcomes”
The device was added to the BCIS dataset library in May 2019, with the request that all local data collection software should have libraries updated within 6 months. Full details of that library update are available on the BCIS web site: https://www.bcis.org.uk/resources/bcis-ccad-database-resources/datasets-history/
Please can you ensure that your dataset libraries are indeed up to date, and make sure to record the use of this device as appropriate.
Many thanks for your ongoing efforts to support our audit process
Best wishes
